Universal Design Solutions

Retirement Community

Including many different amenities makes this community perfect for everyone. Surrounding the homes with a golf course allows for people to continue an active lifestyle if they choose to. Outdoor maintenance such as lawn care is taken care of so residents don't have to worry. A health and wellness facility in the middle of the neighborhood is a space designed for everyone. This includes a physical therapy center, space for community activities, and a restaurant.

Sustainability

Criteria Matrix

Adding a gray water system, geothermal, radiant heating, a brown roof, and solar panels will allow this home to be cost efficient as well as completely sustainable.

Solar - uses energy given off from the sun to power a percentage of the home

Geothermal - uses a series of ground piping and well systems to provide heating and cooling year round

Gray Water - uses excess water from various places inside the home, filters, and repurposes for exterior use

Radiant Heat - uses a system installed in the flooring to effectively heat the whole house

Brown Roof - provides a green roof that uses the natural climate to plant the vegetation to grow on the roof
